The first job of a direct mail piece: TO
GET NOTICED!
We call postcards "NAKED MAIL" because
there is no envelope to open and
prospects usually scan it without making
a conscious decision to do so. That's
half the battle.
However, the scanning process takes only
a couple of seconds. During that brief
scan, the message of the postcard must
be obvious and compelling or the card
may be tossed aside as "Junk Mail".
Use large headlines with a tantalizing
message that will hook the reader and
motivate him to find out more.
Then decide how you want him to respond,
by phone, in person, email or a website
visit. This call to action must be clear
and visible. |
